Applying different strategies to different DES business models

The QUT-DEA research project has identified 5 distinct business models amongst DES providers based upon economies of scope and scale. In this session we will discuss these business models and introduce some generic strategies that relate specifically to each business model in relation to preparing for disruptions.


Dr Iain Waller Senior Research Associate, QUT

Dr Iain Waller is a Senior Research Associate at the QUT Business School. He teaches across the Schools of Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations [AMPR] and Management and has research responsibilities for projects in QUT’s Behavioural Economics, Society and Technology Centre (BEST Centre). Iain works to understand the complexity of institutional systems to contribute transformational opportunities which deliver efficiencies and effectiveness for all actors across contemporary society and our economy. Amanda Beatson Associate Professor in Marketing, QUT Business School

Dr Amanda Beatson is an Associate Professor in Marketing at the QUT Business School, she is also the Program Lead for Behavioural Change for Social Good, in the Behavioural Economics, Society and Technology Centre (BEST Centre) at QUT. Amanda’s work is reinforced by her desire to act as a change agent, transforming the way organisations look at contemporary societal challenges. By providing a voice to vulnerable groups, her goal is to create a better society in terms of inclusivity. Underpinning this is a transformative service research (TSR) lens, whereby she ensures the wellbeing of individuals is focal in these improvements.

Amanda has published widely including, European Journal of Marketing, Disability and Society, Journal of Services Marketing, Disability and Rehabilitation, and Journal of Marketing Management among others.
