Andrew Radford: A Journey of Resilience and Achievement

Andrew Radford’s journey is a powerful example of resilience, support, and the importance of inclusion.

For over 23 years, The Disability Trust has been by his side, providing the guidance and opportunities that have helped him overcome barriers and achieve incredible milestones.

Having an intellectual disability and autism, Andrew initially found it challenging to communicate in a way that others could easily understand.

Through NDIS and Disability Employment Services supports, he developed the skills and confidence to engage with the world around him.

His determination led him to compete in the Special Olympics, establish his own small business, and secure employment at his local library.

Along the way, he faced and overcame workplace bullying, demonstrating immense resilience and self-advocacy.

Andrew’s passion for storytelling and advocacy took centre stage when he became a key figure on the ABC television series The Assembly, where he interviewed notable Australians, including the Prime Minister.

His ability to connect with people and spark important conversations showcased his leadership potential.

Now, Andrew has reached another major milestone—his election to the Board of The Disability Trust.

As a board member, he brings firsthand experience of the challenges faced by people with disabilities and a deep commitment to creating inclusive opportunities for others.

Andrew’s story is one of transformation, proving that with the right support, determination, and a strong voice, anything is possible.

His journey continues to inspire, showing that true leadership comes from lived experience and a passion for change.
